- Visit BArCMuT, CCRMA, and CNMAT at the Maker Faire May 3-4. Come by our collocated exhibits. Also, the Stanford Laptop Orchestra (SLOrk) will be performing and Noah Thorp will be hosting "The Maker Sessions" lightning talks with audio makers (both on the Maker Made Stage in the Expo Hall). We also will have a hackers lounge where you can stop by to discuss and hack on works in progress.
- BArCMuT Sunday Workshop @ UCSC, Sun May 11. David Cope will discuss and demonstrate his work with his computer program Experiments in Musical Intelligence. This will include a world premiere of a work by Emmy-Bach never before heard. Peter Elsea will also presenting.

BIOS

GE WANG ( http://ccrma.stanford... ) received his B.S. in Computer Science in 2000 from Duke University, PhD (soon) in Computer Science (advisor Perry Cook) in 2008 from Princeton University, and is currently an assistant professor at Stanford University in the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA). His research interests include interactive software systems for computer music, programming languages, sound synthesis and analysis, music information retrieval, new performance ensembles (e.g., laptop orchestras) and paradigms (e.g., live coding), visualization, interfaces for human-computer interaction, interactive audio over networks, and methodologies for education at the intersection of computer science and music. Ge is the chief architect of the ChucK audio programming language and the Audicle environment. He was a founding developer and co-director of the Princeton Laptop Orchestra (PLOrk), the founder and director of the Stanford Laptop Orchestra (SLOrk), and a co-creator of the TAPESTREA sound design environment. Ge composes and performs via various electro-acoustic and computer-mediated means.

KEVIN NELSON is an undergraduate at UC Santa Cruz, currently studying computer engineering and electronic music. His technical interests range from hardware design to experimenting with microphone placements. He is an active participant in the monome online community, where he has contributed various Max/MSP patches and hacks. His current projects include a layered looping patch for the monome 40h written in ChucK (pLayer), an abstract probabilistic sequencer (Sepra), and a frankenstein conglomerate of the monome applications mlr and step.
